The 2010 ASHA convention was a whirlwind of excitement! New Leader Maria Ekedel and myself attended as special guests of Progressus Therapy. We were honored to attend as presenters and exhibitors. Our presentation on Friday morning was much more fun and relaxed than we had anticipated. Lead by Jean Blosser and Holly Kaiser of Progressus, the session brought together several members of the Progressus team to talk about the New Leaders Program…and put our acting skills to the test. We had a great time acting as talk show hosts and contestants on "Who Wants to be a New Leader" as we gave an overview of the program. As New Leaders, it was exciting to have the opportunity to share our experiences from the program.
At Progressus Therapy’s Scholarship Booth, we had the opportunity to speak with SLPs from a variety of modalities and settings about the biggest issues in school-based practice and solutions to these pressing problems. Near the close of each day, a winner was chosen from the many applications to receive a $1000 scholarship for continuing education in the field of Speech-Language Pathology. It was exciting to be among so many incredible professionals, exchanging thoughts and ideas.
As the end of the weekend drew near, Maria and I made many new acquaintances and friends. We were able to meet the people behind the voices and words we have heard throughout the past year. We are both very pleased to have been a member of the Progressus team at ASHA this year. Thank you all!
