March is over. Which means that school is 3/4th's of the way complete AND that it is now April.

April is OT month! I feel like every year I want to do something to help make the teachers and professionals more aware of what OT is and what an OT's in the schools do. I have decided this year to go about it a little differently. I am going to try to create a handout for teachers and professionals with regards to OT and what they encounter everyday-desk height, typing on the computer, healthy habits, and where appropriate include information regarding students and OT. I have also come to realize that many of my student's don't know professionally, who I am, or why they come with me. So I am going to try this month to educate the students about why they come to OT and what it is helping them learn/do. In the hope that then the students will be able to advocate for OT to their teacher's and parents.

This is our chance as OTs to have a whole month to increase awareness about Occupational Therapy and how it differs from SLPs and PTs.

If you need resources, you can download a tool on the Progressus Therapy website, http://www.progressustherapy.com/otmonth2010 as Progressus Therapy is a sponsor of OT Month this year with AOTA.
