Through the New Leader's program we all were tasked with creating a career focus plan. One of the biggest benefits of this exercise was the requirement that we put our plans in writing for review by Dr. Blosser and other key leaders; in other words, accountability. When I wrote my plan, I selected tangible goals such as attending key workshops & trainings followed up by incorporating the teachings into my school based practice. I wrote my plan on the conservative side, and part of me was disappointed in myself that I did not construct a plan that was going to give rise to discussions about the best career focus plan ever.
I selected this post because March marks having completed the final training outlined in my career focus plan. Attending two off-site multi-day trainings has been significantly more challenging than I initially thought. It has involved rescheduling groups, holding make-up sessions and meticulous scheduling of evaluations and IEP's. Given that I am continually establishing treatment goals, this was a great personal exercise in what it means to set appropriate goals.
