I can’t believe February is already over!
Right before Winter Break I was so stressed out! So, I had decided in December to try something new with my kids come the first of the year. I made these cool signs. One said “Look what I can do…” and then there are 2 skills on each of the other posters (supine flexion/prone extension; jumping jacks/ski jumps; table/crab; sit ups/push ups; jump rope/juggling). Once a student could do a certain amount of time or a certain number of reps of both skills listed on the poster, they were able to write their name on the poster. I thought it would help to keep them focused and motivated to try, as well as help me to track their progress. Here’s the problem I encountered: do you know how hard it is to find jump ropes in January, or scarves to teach juggling? It took almost a month but I finally found climbing rope at Home Depot and made my own jump ropes (don’t forget to melt the ends with a flame). My kids are doing so well. I am amazed and encouraged by their progress.
In January, I was also given the Caselite Software to try. I had to input my schedule as I had been seeing my kids for months, which was time consuming, but worth every second. Everyday I can now take attendance and actually write a note on each kid, based on my hard schedule for that day. It is the greatest thing! I am caught up to date on all my treatment notes and attendance for all my kids and it feels so good; you should check it out!
