Progressus Therapy, a leading provider of special education solutions to school districts and communities around the country, announced that it has appointed Gene Clark, Ph.D. as its new chief executive officer and Janet Knupp as its new president. As an occupational therapist in the early intervention field, we are always told to encourage parents to incorporate “tummy time” into their child’s daily routine because we know that it is so important for the baby’s development of motor skills, and tactile awareness of baby’s cheeks, which helps with oral-motor skills.

Since entering the early intervention world as an occupational therapist several years ago, I have continued to be amazed by how each child is truly different and unique. Determining the needs and treatment interventions that are appropriate for each child can be challenging.

Some school-based therapists work in relative isolation. This could be for a variety of reasons including the itinerant nature of school-based therapy, geography, limited need for service necessitating only one therapist in an area, etc.
